The IGA are persuing an exciting new venture with the appointment of a Regional Development Officer in the North East of the country which will bring increased benefits to the local membership base, as well as developing and promoting the benefits of membership of the IGA to others in the area.

Donal Callery who has been a farm manager for a long number of years with the Cookstown Limousin Herd in Kells Co. Meath has taken up the position with the IGA. Donal is well known among farmers within the region especially in pedigree breeding circles. This new role will involve him working with dairy, beef and sheep farmers in the area. A number of field evenings are being planned for early in the autumn giving local IGA members increased opportunities to attend IGA organised events.

As part of an ongoing development plan the IGA aim in time to have development officers in each of the regions nationwide. It is hoped that through having more local contact with members the IGA will become increasingly relevant to all farmers who have an interest in improved grassland management.
